Who I Am

jen3Just to let you know a little bit about myself…  My name is Jennifer, and I live in central Indiana.  I’ve been happily married for 15 years.  I have two boys, Lucas, 7, and Zane, 1.  Taking care of them is my full-time job, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.  Before I had kids, I was a civil/environmental engineer.  I hated it and I have no intention of ever going back.

I love to write.  Writing is my escape from the stress of my daily life.  It helps me blow off steam and see the humor in everyday situations.  Without it I would probably go insane.  I plan to be a published author someday, when I have more time to dedicate to writing.  For now I’m using my blog as a way to share my writing with the world.

Other than writing, I like knitting, jewelry making, scrapbooking and basically any kind of crafts.  I love trying new things, whether it’s learning new skills, tasting new foods or visiting new places.  I get excited any time I start a new project.  At any given time I have several works in progress, because unfortunately I’m better at starting projects than finishing them.  That’s how I got the title for this blog.  I’m a perfectionist who is always looking for ways to improve things, and I feel like my life is in a constant state of being not quite “there”.

“Are we there yet?” is also a nod to my kids.  Anyone who has ever traveled with kids had heard that phrase multiple times.  I don’t know how they all know to say it, but they do.  Having kids makes getting there take longer than I planned, but the journey of life would be a lot less fun without them.

    JEN,

I’M REALLY HAPPY TO SEE THAT YOU HAVE STARTED TO “PUBLISH” YOUR THOUGHTS ON LINE. IT IS GOOD PRACTICE FOR THE REAL THING. YOUR STORY ABOUT LUCAS AND THE WHALE IS REALLY GOOD. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. YOU MAKE A FATHER PROUD.

Actually, I WON a cruise. Sorry, I can’t help it. Obviously I like cruises. I can’t wait to go on my “free” one. You know it won’t be free – nothing ever is – but at least it’s a good excuse to go!
